When Afshin and his little brother Benjamin accompany their father to a memorial of bombing victims, their father talks about having to leave the country for reasons of personal safety. Afshin thus takes over the position as head of the household and faces the challenge of growing up. He now bears the responsibility for the repeatedly leaking house roof, has to do the shopping and water the withered tree. He also has to look after his little brother Benjamin. Abas is a tenacious bus driver, fearless and always on the lookout for passengers. At home with his children, Abas is happy, but luck is running out. His rickety bus breaks down and creditors hound him for his money. The added chaos of the Afghan capital, still a regular target of terrorist attacks, makes his daily life more and more difficult. To forget his problems, he sings a song and falls into the drug frenzy. The dusty clouds of Kabul shroud the city in a veil of fear. In the sea of houses live people with feelings and dreams, who defy the fear of violence every day.
