There are only a few days left until the holidays. The grades have long since been set and Mildred has actually made the transfer to the second grade. But on the last day, something strange happens. Mrs. Graustein is unrecognizable. She yells at her students, and where she used to have no grudge against Mildred, she now shows relentless toughness. When Mildred is even scheduled to be expelled from school on her last day, even Mrs. Harschmann finds it too much to bear.
