Episode 2 of the four-part documentary series tells stories between the Wachau region in Austria and Hungary. It is about fates, history, nature, animal protection, adventure and art. For example, there is the Danube landlady who does not want to give up her business despite many floods. "The Danube takes and the Danube gives," she says. Cemetery of the nameless We learn from two winemaker brothers how the Danube influences the aroma of their wine in the Wachau. Shortly behind Vienna, somewhat hidden on the banks of the Danube, lies the "Cemetery of the Nameless". Here, Josef Fuchs maintains a cemetery for water corpses and suicides. The Au landscapes downstream provide a sanctuary for the European pond turtle. From there it is not far to the Slovakian border and Bratislava. 80 metres above the Danube, adrenaline addicts seek their own personal adventure on a tour around the city's landmark, which resembles a UFO. Gold panning makes you happy The Danube flows on and on, leading us to Janus, the gold miner, and his very own method of panning for river gold. Scientists made a special discovery 25 years ago in Vác, Hungary. They came across 265 mummies from the 18th century, many of them Danube Swabians. The baroque town of Szentendre has always attracted many artists like Amarilla. We look over her shoulder as she creates a fantastic water landscape from splashes of colour.
