The Quasselkasper and a few stuffed animals have been sitting in a dark box in the attic for sixty years. Old Gleisennagel takes the Quasselkasper out of the box and gives it to his niece Lilli for her birthday. But spoiled Lilli already has eleven Kasper and no less than forty dolls. She doesn't want to hear his story and therefore carelessly gives him away at school. Finally, he ends up in the circus with the temporary clown, Mr. Toff. To him he tells all his woes, and Toff helps him to become cheerful again.
